Mine is Galaxy Note GT~N7000.

SuperSU = v.1.91 (latest update)
CPU Setting = underclock at 1.2GHz
                          I/O (vr)
                          Governer (Lulzactiveq)
Tweak = Xposed modules
Recovery = TWRP

UI (Kitkat stock launcher)

Actual user experience:  system & UI very fluid.

Galaxy Note GT-N7000 Custom Rom Updates Made Easy January 21, 2014

Those who rooted Galaxy Note (N7000) and installed with Asylum-Omni KitKat 4.4.2 custom rom has made life very easy for themselves.
Reasons:
This KitKat rom is very stable by now;
It is slim with abt 150MB size;
It matches well with PA-GApps;
using TWRP recovery which is user GUI friendly;
the ROM comes with frequent but smooth updates of features.

With the last update (20140119 build) the SuperSU has been updated to v.1.91 and embedded with the ROM. So, there is no need to flash SuperSU on each update of builds. Make things more straight forward.

Steps for new build update now only consists of the followings,
–  download latest build of Asylum Omni 4.4.2 from the Index of Asylum-Omni ROM for N7000, direct onto your phone
–  move the zip file to the ext SD card,
–  boot into TWRP recovery,
–  wipe Advanced Dalvik caches, remember, NO full wipe or data reset needed.
–  install the ROM new build zip file from ext SD card,
–  on completion reboot system.

Done, upon proper system boot up your N7000 is successfully installed with the new build/version.

The phone will remain on Root status.

Progressive Update Index (Asylum~Omni Rom)

image

Date:  12 December 2014

Key Notes:  THIS METHOD IS FOR THOSE WHO ALREADY INSTALLED WITH ASYLUM  CUSTOM ROM 4.4.2 (Kitkat) AND WISH TO CONTINUE WITH ITS NEW FEATURE UPDATES ROLLED OUT BY THE DEVELOPER (SEE ABOVE).

Follow the steps appended below to enjoy constant new feature updates for your Asylum-Omni 4.4.2 rom.

(1) Download the latest update as listed on the above Index onto your device OTA, and then move the downloaded rom zip file to the phone’s sd card.

image

image

(2) Reboot your phone to RECOVERY mode (TWRP)

image

image

(3) Carry out WIPE > Davik Cache and Cache ONLY.
image

(4) Goto INSTALL and flash the downloaded rom update (e.g. 4.4.2 dated 20140112) from the sd card of your phone.
image

image

(5) After successfully flashed the rom update, do the same for the Update-SuperSU zip file  that is already stalled in your sd card since previous installation of the 4.4.2 Asylum rom.
(this is to ensure that your phone will remain Rooted after this  new update of rom ).
image

(6) Reboot System. (It will take a few minutes to complete)
image

image

image

image

Upon seeing the Lock Screen appears, you have done it!

(7) Download (if you haven’t done it earlier) the Root Checker from PlayStore to confirm that your phone remains Rooted after this update of rom.
image

That’s good…

This method is without going for the full data wipe & factory reset, unlike the major change/Rom update. Therefore you will retain all data and downloaded Apps after such progressive rom (new features, bugs fix) updates along the way. No hassle (no PC needed) and no headache.
image

image

Above:  In the Setting > About Phone  –  it will indicate that the rom has been updated to whatever (latest) version.

Important > MAKE SURE YOUR PHONE IS IN FULL CHARGE OR AT LEAST 80% BATTERY STATE OR IT IS PLUGGED IN TO POWER. DISRUPTION TO THE ROM UPDATE PROCESS MAY CAUSE GREAT HARM TO YOUR ANDROID DEVICE.

Install KitKat 4.4.2 Asylum-Omni ROM On Galaxy Note N7000 January 11, 2014

The latest Asylum-Omni KitKat 4.4.2 rom was updated by Team Asylum 4 days ago for the Galaxy Note (N7000). The rom is signed as 20140106 version.

Previously I was on the earlier version of KitKat 4.4 and 4.4.1 Asylum-Omni rom which ran relatively OK but definitely still lacking something, and not the smoothest. So I flashed back to Slimrom 4.3.1 version and waited for KitKat rom to be more stable before I jump in again.

With this latest release (20140106), the Asylum-Omni 4.4.2 KitKat custom rom has reached the maturity needed, after several tweaked versions before it.

Those who yet to update to this version of Android KitKat can now safely go in to flash it as stable daily use. The common steps to flash this Asylum-Omni ROM is highlighted by a few people such as below,

image

Just go to the web and search for the guide
(Of course your device should be rooted first with a recovery ROM).

My choice is NOT going for the Raw Kernel as highlighted above, I just downloaded the Asylum-Omni KitKat 4.4.2 rom zip file and PA-Gapps zip file, coupled with flashing the latest Update-SuperSU v.1.8.6 with the base stock (CM) kernel.

As I was coming from the Slimrom 4.3.1 version, I needed to do the full data wipe and advanced Dalvik cache wipe in the process.

Initial impression of this rom has been very good. It runs very smoothly without any issue. The difference with the earlier KitKat v.4.4.1 was rather distinct in that the 4.4.1 was slow and subjected to force close often.

Even I under clocked my Galaxy Note to 1.2GHz (max, for battery saving) the UI experience is fluid. Games such as Temple Run 2, Pinball Pro, Ninjump Delux etc. are executed fast.

Internet browsing experience is fast too. Camera and video playing remain stable.

The rom already comes with many detailed setting for both UI and system. Coupled with Xposed modules it allows user the fullest tweaking potential…

Will run in this new rom for more length and see how it fairs in many other aspects.

Above: PA-GApps v.20131126 to go with Asylum KitKat rom seems a good match. All the KitKat features are there and run smoothly.
