For those of you outside of China regardless of where and, owning the Redmi Note 4G; if you really want to go for the taste of MIUI 6, this is the best option you can adopt.
MIUI 6 carries the flavor of material design (Android L, Lollipop) yet introduces Xiaomi’s own flat & ultra slim UI images.
That’s the Xiaomi.eu developers rom (weekly update) available for you!
I have just downloaded and flashed the most current release from xiaomi.eu resources onto my Redmi Note 4G (global) – version 5.1.30 MIUI 6 based on Android version 4.4.4
HERE’S MY USER EXPERIENCE.
FIRST THING FIRST, go to the xiaomi.eu website and click the ROMs page, as follow.
Then you look for the correct ROM indicated for your device, copy and paste the URL to search for the download link.
Once you have downloaded the correct ROM zip file onto your internal storage, open the default Updater to go through the step by step process on screen.
* One thing to note, I did not first download to the MIUI V5 developer version 4.8.22 as suggested by some blogs, before I start to flash this version (MIUI V6, v.5.1.30).
I came directly from the official stable ROM KHIMIBH 24.0 version. There’s no problem to flash it directly as I have done so. Hope I have clear the doubt.
System auto~boot into Lock screen, after ROM installation
After you have successfully installed the MIUI 6 ROM, next very important step is to Wipe Cache! (Manually boot into stock recovery mode). If you miss this step, then your system will be very sluggish. There’s no need to wipe user data. So you still have all your Google apps and data in tow after you flashed the ROM.
The process will take a few minutes… to complete
After successfully wipe cache, reboot system.
Upon successful reboot, you will see the MIUI 6 default lock screen. Congratulations!
As this is a developers rom, your system will have a native root status. Just go to the Permission Manager to switch on the root permission.
In order for your apps that required proper root access, DOWNLOAD the latest SuperSU app from Play Store and update its binary.
There you go, I tested all Google apps that were previously installed on my device and survived after this flashing of new rom (MIUI 6), NO BUG DETECTED!
IF you do encounter any apps forced close, just uninstall the affected app(s) and reinstall again. After that it will be OK.
MIUI 6 on top of Android KitKat 4.4.4 is full of new UI creation and it is smooth. Icons, Statusbar, Setting Menu, Camera, Music, and many added functionality. Too many add-on, I have yet to fully explore the rest…
Long press Power button > new format of activating certain actions…
Homepage…
Setting menu..
Google Play Store works smoothly…
There’s a new stuff called the “Mikey” (MiK) program that can trigger various apps action in conjunction with a gadget clicking away… For those who are very curious to try.
One-hand Mode:
Screen size will be reduced to facilitate one-hand touch mode. (3 sizes to choose from: 4.5″, 4.0″, 3.5″)
If you wish to continue with the developers weekly ROM update, there’s more good stuff to come. MIUI 5.1.30 WEEKLY is the most current one.
Enjoy your flashing of new MIUI 6 Roms…
Can you help me about this issue?
After I install the ROM, the phone keeps giving this error: “Unfortunately, the process com.android.phone has stopped”
You can try to go into TWRP or CWM recovery (install it if you don’t have) and, wipe Dalvik and Cache, then reboot system.
Does it fix heating and lagging problem?
The developer weekly rom is stable and smooth enough and UI and apps open & close fast. For solving heat problem, need to adjust the CPU clock speed as well as the governor for more balanced performance.
